Physical and Chemical Changes
- What is the atomic number and atomic symbol of Oxygen? What is the atomic number and symbol of Iron (This one is a little trickier. Study the periodic table closely.)?
- Look up the apple link on the website. Why do cut apples turn brown?
- What other chemical reaction, which occurs on bikes and gates, is similar to what happened to the apple?
- Please click on the eggshell link. What is eggshell made of?
- Look at the chemical formula on the webpage. What is produced when the eggshell combines with the acetic acid (vinegar)?
- Soda also has acetic acid. Hypothesize, why do dentists worry about people drinking too much soda?
- Please read the 2 paragraphs in this advertisement. What is inside the warmer pouch, or bag?
- What causes the bag to warm up? In addition to heat, what is produced when the bag warms up?
- Please draw and describe the atoms of a solid, as shown under the microscope on the website.
- Draw the differences between atoms of solids, liquids, and gases.
